What I Am

To really comprehend the fullness of the thought that nothing outside of your Self is real, then you really have to comprehend that you are not who or what you think you are.

My Experience Of Yoga

My name is Darla (aka Dev Dharam, an American Sikh dharma name given to me by my teacher, Yogi Bhajan in 1998.) I have been practicing yoga, and specifically Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, since 1993.  From 1998 to 2004, I studied and attended classes lead by Yogi Bhajan in Espanola, New Mexico.

In 2000, I moved to New Mexico to study with Yogi Bhajan, receiving my Teachers Certification from him the summer of 2000.

Since 2000, I have taught 2500+ hours of class time, attended numerous yoga training of all styles.  IKYTA requirements attended numerous International Kundalini Yoga courses: * 40+ hours of White Tantric yoga, * Level II Kundalini Yoga Course: Vitality and Stress, * Women Training Camp in Greece,  New Mexico * 9+ IKYTA conferences.

In 2007, I moved to Cairo, Egypt. Since then, I have taught Kundalini Yoga throughout Egypt, but primarily in the greater Cairo area.

Do what works best for you and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

The greatest service that one can render to another is the imparting of Knowledge of Self.

Spiritual service does not dominate or spew dogma.

Spiritual help is the most compassionate giving of all.

What works for me, may work for you.
Then again, maybe not.
Perhaps, insha'allah, this will point you to your path for peace of mind.

Sadhana, or Daily Spiritual Practice

The greatest gift given to me from my teachers is my sadhana. I maintain a daily practice of sadhana (a daily spiritual practice). Yes, I do arise for a spiritual practice every morning at a time between 4 am and 6 am.

Being in Cairo (the city of a thousand minarets), I have the benefit of hearing the morning call to prayer, which varies but is usually around 4 a.m. The call is a call...and I rise with and pray my own journey inward.

MY TEACHERS
* I teach Kundalini Yoga as taught by my teacher Yogi Bhajan. (website) . Yogi Bhajan transformed my life and offered me the opportunity to become my Self. Having attended classes with Yogi Bhajan from 1996, it wasn't until 2000 that I moved to his homebase and ashram in Espanola, New Mexico. Until his death in 2004, I attended his twice weekly classes.
* A beautiful spiritual teacher and being that I have met is Hariharananda. The practice is Kriya Yoga (website Kriya Yoga
* An entity I found as my most life transforming was deep study and practice of "A Course In Miracles" (website)

The odd thing about living in the present is that the past and future don’t exist. So, every “accomplishment” that I’ve achieved prior to this moment, doesn’t really matter other than I arrived at this present moment.

Since 2007, I teach and practice Yoga and Meditation in Cairo, Egypt
